'Modern' is the second single from Melbourne alt-soul/RnB 4-piece, Paris Plan.

This modern RnB/pop jam is a familiar narrative about modern dating trends and ego games, and that dance we do when we’re afraid to be vulnerable with others, says vocalist and lyricist Lauren Boomgardt:

“The aim of the game in our dating scene seems to be staying aloof, easygoing, and not too available - because you don't want to appear clingy... but then you run the risk of looking like you aren't interested at all. It's always complicated when ego is involved, you're experiencing intense feelings but trying to consciously keep it hidden so as not to risk too much, look desperate (aka "crazy") or worst of all - face the dreaded rejection!”

Modern’s lyrical content speaks to the casual nature of a lot of modern relationships and how that can work: that is, until one person starts catching the ‘feels’..

"It's just this modern style, far from the realms of someone else. It's what we're waiting for, unless of course, we needed more.."
